By EMILY SHAPIRO – ABC News  July 04, 2019 – A powerful earthquake with a 6.4 magnitude rocked Southern California on Thursday, marking the strongest earthquake in the region since 1999, officials said. “We will continue to have a lot of aftershocks,” seismologist Dr. Lucy Jones warned at a news conference following the quake. Watch SpaceX catch a rocket fairing on a ship at sea after it returns from space

By Darrell Etherington – TechCrunch July 03, 2019 – SpaceX  managed another first for its reusable rocketry efforts during its most recent launch when it caught part of the fairing in a giant net mounted on a boat named “Ms. Tree.” The nosecone component, used to protect the Falcon Heavy’s cargo during its June 25 launch, typically is either lost or falls into the ocean, where it can sometimes be recovered, albeit at great cost. Now, we have video of the fairing returning back through the atmosphere, and of the actual moment the fairing touches down on the barge, captured by onboard cameras set up by SpaceX. The fairing-return video, below, gives you a good sense of what it’s like when one of these components returns to Earth in terms of the stresses that are on the hardware from the extreme heat generated by friction from the Earth’s atmosphere. SoftBank pumps $250 million into Ola Electric Mobility

By Press Trust of India in Money Control July 02, 2019 – Ola’s electric vehicle arm, Ola Electric Mobility has secured a funding of about $250 million) from SoftBank, according to regulatory documents. With this latest infusion, Ola Electric Mobility (OEM) has joined the list of unicorns in India that includes names like Flipkart, Zomato, Paytm as well as its parent, Ola. As per regulatory documents filed with the Registrar of Companies, OEM issued “4,326 fully and compulsorily convertible series B preference shares of face value of Rs 10 each having the rights, privileges and preferences…” to SB Topaz (Cayman) Ltd. The allotment was made today following a special resolution passed by the board members on June 25, the filing showed. SoftBank is also the single largest investor in Ola. In May, Tata Sons Chairman Emeritus Ratan Tata – who is also an investor in Ola – had invested an undisclosed amount in OEM as part of series A funding round. Also as part of the series A, OEM had announced raising Rs 400 crore (around $58 million)led by Tiger Global and Matrix India in March this year. Ola Electric is currently running several pilot peograms involving charging solutions, battery swapping stations, and deploying vehicles across two, three and four-wheeler segments.
