Uttarkhand, India, June 27, 2013 – Efforts to rescue thousands of people stranded by flooding in northern India is being hampered by further bad weather, particularly in the state of Utterakhand.
The official death toll has passed 1,000, but as the heaviest rain in nearly 80 years continues to fall it is unlikely the final number of victims will be known for some time.
