Mitt Romney set a personal fundraising record on Wednesday with two lucrative
fundraisers in Michigan.
“Tonight, and today, we will exceed every single event that has been held for Gov.
Romney from the beginning of the campaign,” Campaign Finance Co-Chair John Rakolta
said at the beginning of a fund-raiser in Troy, Michigan Wednesday, according to CNN.
Romney’s finance chair told a reporter that the two events, one in Troy and the other in
Grand Rapids, were expected to raise between $6 and $8 million.
“It’s hard to write a check to a politician, it’s harder to get a friend to do it,” Romney said
at the event in Troy.
“You guys have done that, thank you. And to each person who is here this evening,
you have helped us break records, and that’s not just important from the standpoint of
breaking records, it’s important because we recognize what’s at stake.”
